Jacob Berry Ministries - Seffner Christian AcademyFor the past 7 years, we have been blessed to begin our year in sunny Florida away from the cold, snowy weather of Oklahoma. The week prior to the beginning of the camp meeting in Seffner, Florida, I was privileged to preach the Middle School and High School chapel service for Seffner Christian Academy. The Lord moved in the hearts of many of the students and they found their way to the altar after realizing the many gifts and blessings God has bestowed in their life.

The chapel service was a great kick off to the following week of camp meeting. During each service, the Lord poured into me strength and encouragement that I would draw from in the days that lay ahead. By Friday morning, the morning I was to preach, my body was physically exhausted, but my soul soared like an eagle and the Lord was my strength in my weakness as I preached that morning and during the next two weeks in other parts of Florida.

During this time, my body began to grow weaker and sicker and regrettably, I had to return home missing a Sunday morning service in Florida and the following weekend in Georgia.

As many of you may or may not know, I spent the next months in a battle for my life. As my body began to grow weaker my longing for Heaven began to grow stronger. The night before I was admitted into intensive care, my parents and grandparents gathered around my bed, as they had many times before, beseeching the Lord for a miracle. As my momma laid her head upon mine to pray and her tears ran down her face onto mine, Jesus spoke to me in a still small voice saying, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified."

During the next four nights while in the intensive care unit, we held on to that promise.

I was diagnosed with LTC (ulcerative colitis) which is an inflammatory bowel disease. After the diagnosis and treatment plan, although I had lost about 15 pounds and was severely weak, the doctor released me to go home to prevent further infections from being in a hospital environment.

I have continued to improve with each passing day and my energy level is slowly returning. With the Lord's help, guidance, and strength, I plan to be on the road again fulfilling His promise that this trial and test has been for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified.

Thank you for the many prayers, texts, phone calls, facebook messages, cards, continued support & special love offerings during the past months. Each one was an encouragement and reminder that the Lord was not finished with me. I look forward to seeing you and to seeing what the Lord has in store for us in 2013.

Humbly "Living the Gift,"
